A relaxing approach to clinical health & Wellness
What is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy is a holistic, hands-on approach to physical therapy that focuses on the assessment, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Rather than simply treating symptoms, myotherapy looks at the bigger picture — identifying the underlying causes of your pain and addressing them at the source.
How Does Myotherapy Work?
Myotherapy primarily targets the body's soft tissues — muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia — using a range of evidence-based techniques tailored to your individual needs. These may include deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, dry needling, joint mobilisation, stretching, and corrective exercises. Each treatment is designed to relieve pain, improve movement, and restore normal muscle and joint function.
What sets myotherapy apart from a standard massage is its clinical focus. Every session begins with a thorough assessment — looking at how you move, where your pain is coming from, and what may be contributing to it. From there, a treatment plan is built around you, your body, and your lifestyle.
What Can Myotherapy Help With?
Myotherapy can support a wide range of conditions, whether you're dealing with something that's been building over time or an injury that's happened suddenly. Common presentations include chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain, headaches and jaw tension, sporting injuries, postural imbalances, muscle tightness and restricted movement, repetitive strain, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
More Than Pain Relief
While pain relief is often the first reason people seek myotherapy, the benefits go well beyond that. By improving how your body moves and functions, myotherapy can help you feel stronger, more mobile, and more confident in your day-to-day life — whether that's getting back to sport, sitting more comfortably at work, or simply moving through your day without pain holding you back.
Every treatment plan is tailored to you — because no two bodies are the same, and your care shouldn't be either.

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised massage technique designed to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. It is used to support those with lymphatic conditions such as lymphoedema, as well as to reduce swelling, improve immune function, support and promote your body's natural healing and detoxification processes.
Supporting Recovery & Healing
MLD can be a wonderful part of your recovery journey. Whether you're preparing for surgery, healing afterwards, or working through an injury, its gentle approach helps to reduce swelling and bruising, encourage fluid movement away from affected areas, and improve comfort and mobility as your body heals. It works beautifully alongside physiotherapy and other rehabilitation care, supporting your body every step of the way.
How Does MLD Work?
Unlike deep tissue massage, MLD uses very light pressure and slow, rhythmic movements to engage the lymphatic system. Treatment focuses on areas where lymph nodes are clustered — such as the neck, armpits, abdomen, and groin — gently guiding fluid from congested areas toward functioning lymph nodes where it can be processed. Oil isn't used during treatment, as MLD works with the skin rather than on it, allowing for the precise, light contact the technique requires.
More Than You Might Expect
One of the things I love most about MLD is just how far-reaching its benefits can be. MLD activates the parasympathetic nervous system — think of it as a relaxation massage on another level. This deep calming effect can help ease headaches and stress, reduce muscle tension, improve digestion, support better sleep, and enhance cognitive function. MLD isn't only for those with lymphatic conditions — it's a beautiful therapy for anyone looking to feel calmer, move more comfortably, and give their body the gentle support it deserves.

What is Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy?
Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT) is a comprehensive, evidence-based approach specifically designed to address lymphatic system dysfunction. It is the gold standard treatment for conditions such as lymphoedema and lipoedema, helping to manage swelling, improve lymphatic function, and enhance your overall quality of life. Unlike standard massage, DLT brings together multiple components in a structured, clinical framework — each working together to support your body in the most effective way possible.
The Five Components of DLT
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) — The foundation of DLT. Gentle, rhythmic massage techniques that stimulate your body's natural lymphatic flow and help reduce fluid buildup.
Compression Therapy — Medical grade garments and bandaging that support lymphatic circulation and help maintain the results achieved during treatment.
Skincare — Thoughtful hygiene and protection strategies to maintain skin integrity and reduce the risk of infection — an essential but often overlooked part of lymphatic care.
Exercise — Tailored movement programs designed to promote drainage, improve mobility, and support long-term management of your condition.
Education & Daily Life Modifications — Empowering you with the knowledge and practical tools to adapt your daily activities, so you can feel confident managing your care beyond the clinic.
Adjunct Therapies
To further support your treatment outcomes, I also incorporate two additional therapies into your care:
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) — A painless, non-invasive therapy that works at a cellular level to gently promote healing, reduce inflammation, and support tissue repair.
Electrostatic Oscillation Therapy (TEO) — A soothing, deep-acting therapy that helps soften areas of fibrosis and firmness, while encouraging fluid movement within the affected tissue.
Together, these therapies allow me to take a truly holistic approach to your lymphatic care — addressing not just the swelling, but supporting your body's ability to heal and function at its best.

Preparing for Surgery
Preparing your body before surgery can make a real difference to your recovery. Manual Lymphatic Drainage in the lead-up to your procedure helps to optimise lymphatic flow, reduce existing swelling, and encourage your body into a calm, relaxed state. By supporting your lymphatic system before surgery, we're helping to create the best possible conditions for healing once your procedure is complete.
Post-Operative Recovery
After surgery, swelling, bruising, and discomfort are a natural part of the healing process — but they don't have to slow you down more than necessary. MLD gently encourages fluid movement away from the surgical site, helping to reduce swelling and bruising, ease discomfort, and support your body's natural healing response. As your recovery progresses, compression therapy can also play an important role — supportive garments or bandaging help to maintain the results of your MLD sessions, manage swelling between appointments, and give your body the ongoing support it needs as tissues heal.
Together, MLD and compression therapy work hand in hand to help you recover more comfortably and with greater confidence.
Scar Tissue Treatment
As part of your recovery, scar tissue management is something that can make a meaningful difference to both comfort and mobility. Scar tissue can feel tight, restrictive, and sometimes uncomfortable as it matures — but with the right care, we can help soften and remodel it over time.
I use Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and Electrostatic Oscillation Therapy (TEO) alongside MLD to support scar healing. LLLT works at a cellular level to promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and encourage healthy collagen remodelling. TEO provides a gentle, deep-acting treatment that helps to soften fibrotic tissue and improve fluid movement within the scar and surrounding area. Combined with MLD to support lymphatic flow around the healing tissue, this approach helps to improve the look and feel of scars, restore comfort, and encourage greater mobility in the affected area.
Injury Recovery
Whether you're dealing with a sprain, strain, or soft tissue injury, swelling and inflammation can be one of the biggest barriers to getting back to feeling like yourself. MLD offers a gentle, non-invasive way to support your body through the recovery process — helping to reduce swelling around the injured area, improve tissue comfort, and encourage mobility as you heal. When appropriate, compression therapy can be introduced alongside MLD to further support fluid management and provide stability to the affected area.
This approach works beautifully as a complement to physiotherapy and other rehabilitation care, giving your body the extra support it needs to heal at its own pace.
Every treatment plan is tailored to you — your body, your surgery or injury, and your goals.

For as long as I can remember, I've had a fascination with sports, fitness, health, and how the body works. That curiosity is what led me to pursue a career in hands-on therapy.
I began my studies in 2017 with a Diploma of Remedial Massage and started practising as a remedial therapist in 2019. While working, I went on to complete my Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy in 2021.
As a Myotherapist, I've worked with patients experiencing sporting injuries, postural imbalances, chronic pain conditions, acute pain presentations, and more.
In 2025, I completed my training in Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy, and it has quickly become a real passion of mine. I'm particularly drawn to how Manual Lymphatic Drainage can be used to support injury healing and both pre- and post-operative recovery. It's an area I continue to dive deeper into every day, as I truly believe this type of therapy can benefit so many people in so many ways.
My favourite part of my job? Getting to be part of helping people feel and move better.
Outside of the clinic, you'll find me travelling, playing football at St Joseph's Football Club, getting in a good gym session, or spending time with my beautiful daughter, my wonderful partner Sam, and our friends.
